Why There's Greatness in ALL OF US

A personal hero of mine, Tony Robbins, claims that fear is the biggest obstacle in all of our paths to a fulfilling life. I heard this a year ago and when I had time to conceptualize this statement, it resonated with me because of how truthful it is amongst humanity. A lot of the time, we don't try because we're afraid to fail. There's a huge problem with this idea though because if we don't try we have a 0% chance to succeed.

Greatness is defined as the quality of being great, distinguished, or eminent.

Greatness means different things for different people. For some, it means making a lot of money. For others, it means being great at their craft. For most, it means being a great spouse, partner, child, or parent. Greatness can mean a lot of things and it changes at different points in our lives. When I was young, greatness meant being the best football player in town. In my current life, greatness means doing everything I can to help others become the best version of themselves.

We all want to be great in some capacity. The problem is that a lot of people never give themselves the chance to succeed because of fear. Fear holds us all back and it defeats the bravest of people because it's scary. Fear means that there is an unknown and an unknown means that we don't know the result that will come when we take a chance.

We are all going to fail at every single point in our lives. The richest of people have failed, the happiest people have failed, and the couples in the best relationships have suffered heartbreak before. WE ALL FAIL, but if we don't try we have no chance to achieve greatness. There will always be a risk when we take a chance. We have no chance at success though without pushing fear aside and attacking our goals head first.

Fear is a valid feeling. Despite this, if we let fear control our decisions we will never improve ourselves. Greatness is in each and everyone of us, but the reason some reach their goals and others don't is because successful people weren't afraid to try. When you take a chance the best case scenario is that it pays off. The worst case scenario is that you fail. Failure isn't as bad as it's perceived to be though. All failure means is more time to get better and figure out a way to overcome the adversity you've been dealt in your life! So if you're afraid to take a risk because you believe rejection or failure is staring you right in the eyes, I recommend pursuing your dream because who knows...it may actually work out!
