Virtual footraces have been the latest sensation in the world of running ever since the COVID-19 Pandemic. Aravaipa Running is hosting their first virtual race over the 10 day period of April 17-26 which benefits the World Health Organization. They are holding distances ranging from 5k to 100 miles so there really is a distance for everyone! You pick the date and the distance!
I briefly discussed the race today on The Story Time Show with Kolby Castillo so I wanted to elaborate on it a little more.
I am entered in the 100 mile distance so beginning one week from this Friday, I am going to attempt to run 100 miles a quickly as I can. I have the whole ten day period so I really have no clue how long it will take me to finish. My current goal is to chunk the amount over one weekend instead of doing it all in one shot, but other than that I don't have too many expectations. I will be doing the whole race on a quarter mile track so it will end up being 400 laps total over the period it takes me to cover the distance. It's a lot of miles, much more than I have ever run before, but one thing is for sure...I can't wait to dive head first into the highs and lows I will experience on the journey!
We can do ANYTHING with the right mindset!
