Can Everyone Change Their Lives? YES!

The process works. Time and time again people have changed their lives by taking the required steps. When you wake up everyday and hammer the rock, eventually it will break. By taking the necessary steps every single day towards your goal, you will not be met with failure. There may be disappointment throughout the journey, but if you persevere and don't quit, your DREAMS WILL BECOME REALITY.

Yesterday I took a picture of myself after a workout. I was proud. Proud of myself and the battle it took for me to shed 140 pounds, start running, and totally transform my life. I got emotional when I saw this picture because there was a lot of hard work that went into my body looking how it does today. It's not perfect and everyday I'm working to improve myself, but damn...I'm freakin proud! Here's the picture:

I started scrolling through my photos to relive the memories throughout my journey to this point and I was flooded with reminders of the good and bad times. It just so happened that exactly fours years ago in 2016 there was a picture of me weighing around 320. I still wasn't at my peak weight, but I was in a bad spot. I knew I was going to miss the entire 2016 football season after earning a starting job as a freshman in 2015. I had lost confidence in myself and I had some negative people in my life that were bringing me down. I vividly remember how emotionally difficult this day was for me four years ago. Here's the picture:

The Tanner Kern transformation between July 16, 2016 and July 16, 2020 is remarkable. There were a lot of hard times and in this picture above I wasn't even thinking about losing weight. All I was thinking about was getting through the day. I felt like my life was falling apart, but I got through it. The tough times don't last. Eventually difficult times end as long as you wake up everyday and keep trying. When you don't give up, you'll eventually get to the other side and find your way out of the dark.

We all want instant results. It's part of the society that we live in today, but anything worth getting in life requires work. I think back to when I was 340 pounds and no longer a football player which ALWAYS causes my stomach to turn. This isn't because I miss those days, but it's because of how hard the journey was to go from the point where I didn't really love who I was to the person I am today. Despite this, the transformation wouldn't have been possible without waking up everyday and hammering the rock. There were days when I didn't want to get up, but I knew it was necessary to get to where I wanted to go. I had A days, B days, C days, D days, and F days, but my mood didn't stop me from waking up and doing everything I could to become the best version of myself.

People always ask me how'd I do it? They say, "I could never do X, Y, or Z." I'll be the first to tell you that there's nothing special about me. I made a decision of wanting to lose weight and everything else blossomed from there. I committed myself to my goal and did what was necessary to make a lasting change in my life. Commit yourself to the process and YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE. I learned along the way that if you want something bad enough you'll get it done because you'll do WHATEVER IT TAKES!
